Governance of the Institute for mechanical engineering is provided by several complementary bodies that monitor, implement and evaluate the Institute’s missions and activities. The Institute’s executive office implements and coordinates the initiatives and missions of the IMI.

Our other strategic and operational monitoring bodies

To successfully complete its coordination mission, the Institute’s executive office is supported by 4 bodies: the Institute Council, the Scientific Council, the Advisory Board and the STAB (Scientific & Training Advisory Board). These different structures make strategic and operational decisions concerning the IMI.

The institute is administered by the Institute Council, which approves its main guidelines in terms of research, training and innovation. The Institute Council members are entitled to vote within two colleges and must meet at least twice a year.

Current composition :

  • College 1, comprising the Dean ofUFR Sciences (or his representative), the Director of Polytech Marseille (or his representative), the Director of Ecole Centrale (or his representative), the Director of ED 353 (or his representative), the Director of the Mechanics Department (or his representative) and the Director ofIUT (or his representative).
  • College 2, comprising the directors of the IRPHE, IUSTI, LMA and M2P2 laboratories (or their representatives).

The Scientific Council assists the Director and the Office with the institute’s scientific policy. In particular, it drafts and selects calls for projects launched by the institute. It is also responsible for organising scientific events focused on five strategic areas. Comprising 20 members, it is organised around area managers from 4 laboratories and also ensures the exchange of information with the latter.
